Mary Leonard is an accomplished international artist now focusing on the instruction of others. She co-developed a new art form in 1969 called Mariahsachin. She is not confined to any media or style. Her media currently is oil and acrylic.
“God’s Little Princess” and hopes to complete the Companion Guide for parents in 2017. The 28 original paintings in the book are designed to allow the child to become the lead character and wander through them with ever growing imagination.
Very well-traveled and having taught throughout the US, most recently Whidbey Island, Washington, with 27 wildly-tamed acres for meditation and instruction.
She sold her first painting at the age of 12 to a hospital in Ohio and had her first one-women show at 13. A few of her one-woman shows over the last decade were in Windsor, Loveland, Parker, and Fort Collins, CO, Edmonds, WA, and at venues in Coupeville, WA. Has had over 40 one women shows.
She has shown at the MOCA (“Museum of Contemporary Art”) in Fort Collins, Colorado and two pieces have shown in the “Nagasaki Peace Museum” in Japan as well as galleries in Ohio, Colorado, and Washington. Her Artworks are collected in both Public and Private Collections.
She won competitions in Illinois, Ohio, and Colorado. Mary chaired the Public Arts Commission in Castle Rock, CO and made several significant purchases of bronze sculptures. Mary chaired and demonstrated for four years in Artists in Action for the “Coupeville Arts & Crafts Festival”, a juried demonstration feature of the festival. Judged and juried many adult and youth shows.
Mary was honored to receive an art grant to create within the Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve 18 sculpture gardens in downtown Coupeville as a competition.
She is just completed a national book tour. Is now writting 2 new books.
